USPS Direct Deposit Verification 2026: What Changed in PostalEASE

USPS introduced additional account verification on March 20, 2026 for employees enrolling in direct deposit or changing routing and account information in PostalEASE.

Account security: Enter Employee ID, password, MFA codes, banking changes and other sensitive account information only inside the official LiteBlue USPS.gov portal.

Who is affected

USPS says verification applies to first-time direct-deposit enrollment and to employees changing routing or account numbers. Existing employees do not need to update banking information just because the safeguard exists.

Dual account entry

PostalEASE now requires the account number to be entered twice before submission to reduce data-entry mistakes.

Timing guidance

USPS advises submitting changes before day 7 of the payroll cycle to reduce the chance of a payroll delay. Later changes can move to the following pay period.

If verification fails

USPS says employees receive an email and PostalEASE notification, or a mailed letter when no email is on file. A $0.00 transaction may appear as a validation test and is not a withdrawal or deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to re-enter my bank account in 2026?

Not just because verification was added. USPS says it applies when enrolling or changing bank information.

Why did I see a $0.00 bank transaction?

USPS says it can be a test transaction used to validate the account.
